To Counter The Current Wave of Republican Laws to Control Women’s Body, Health and Reproduction Rights – I propose:

THE DADDY DNA DATABASE PROJECT
Please help this go viral and get the word out to your friends, acquaintances, and state congresswomen and senators (feel free to send it via email or post on facebook -just please include a link to this post).

The Daddy DNA Database Project – a bill that requires all males over the age of 12 to have their DNA in a database – after all they are half the genetic material needed to create a baby and since the men do not want women to have birth control, and everyone is suppose to be 100% responsible for their own actions and offspring (no government support or handouts at all according to Republicans) it only makes sense that every single male should be in a database so they can be tracked down and their wages garnished to support their offspring. If they can’t – then it’s off to a workhouse of some sort to work for below minimum wage (the rest of their compensation is in the form of room and board) and what little salary they get will go to any children they fathered. The wealthy will love this idea – it provides cheap labor (they can also be used in work groups (with chains of course so they don’t escape) to work in the fields – thus doing the work that no one else wants to do (and eliminating the jobs that are now filled by illegal immigrants). Inmates (with tracking anklets of course) who have good behavior could even become house help for the uber rich.

UPDATE:  Of course men should be given a choice (after all even though the Republicans don’t want women to have a choice, we don’t have to stoop to their level).  Males can either have their DNA put in a database so they can be held responsible for all children they father, or they can opt to have a vasectomy.

The Romney Republicans will love it since the rich benefit! And the Santorum and far right Republicans will love it too since it protects every single egg and sperm but adults of all ages rot in custody with no rights and with no support or safety net.

Sounds like something the Republicans should really go for right ??? **said with a touch of snark** After all personal liberty is meaningless when compared to the rights of a sperm and an egg which are much more important – so what’s a little DNA in a database if it means that every single sperm will now be protected and have a “loving” father ?

Since the far right and (some) Republicans will not listen to facts or reason, the only way to make our point is to fight their absurd ideas with our own absurd ideas and keep the pressure on until to these lawmakers come to their senses and stop trying to pull this country back into the dark ages and use “religion” to control women.

Note:  I don’t usually like to address political issues on this blog since that is not the focus of it, but the current wave of nonsense laws that Republicans in so many states are trying to pass (and some have passed!) is so absurd and so very dangerous for women’s health that I felt I needed to speak up.

I feel very strongly about protecting women’s rights and health benefits.  I have a childhood history of male abuse (father was a child molestor and my step father a rapist) – as a result I ended up with cervical cancer when I was 19 and had to have a hysterectomy by the time I was 20. Plan Parenthood saved my life – it was the only health care option I had at the time for regular Pap smears so they were able to detect a problem early enough to save my life.  In order to get the treatment and surgery I needed, I had to go to my abuser father and live in his house for awhile so he could cover me under his employer’s health care and continue to be enrolled in college – but at least I was able to get the necessary surgery that I needed and go on to live a happy life; I am happily married for over 20 yrs and we have lovely teenage daughter (we became an adopted family in 1996).

FYI:  To those who seem to think I’m serious about this, let me clarify – I am SERIOUS about protecting women’s rights, health care options and access to affordable, safe birth control of all kinds.  I am NOT for invading any one’s privacy, telling them what to do with their bodies or in their bedrooms.  This proposal is simply to counter the extreme Republicans on the right who want to make sure women have no options, by using their own “logic” and applying it instead to men (rather then women).  The hope is that by seeing how absurd the idea is to control others when it is applied to men, that enough Republicans will stop aligning themselves with the far right christian-in-name-only folks who want to enforce religious laws on others (which by the way is very much like what the Taliban does with Sharia Law or the way the Communist China does by regulating how many offspring their people can have).

Qi Gong for Healing (previous post) – Qi Gong is a form of energy work and healing techniques that are over 8000 years old. It is both simple and deeply profound, connecting the body-mind-spirit through breath, movement, and meditations. In class we learn self-help practices for our own well-being, balance, and inner peace and how to gather, build, store, circulate, and transmit qi healing energy to help others. The techniques can be done any where, any time, and do not require any special tools.

Brief Definition of Qi Gong (from Wikipdia): a practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation. With roots in Chinese medicine, qigong is traditionally viewed as a practice to balance qi (chi) or what has been translated as “intrinsic life energy.”

 evergreensnow December and 2011 Highlights

The monthly roundup post of highlights for the previous month was a little delayed due to the holiday.  But here is a brief summary and since it is a New Year a brief look back at 2011, with  a quick look ahead for 2012.

December Highlights (and favorite posts)
Being Chosen by a Healing Drum – Dec. 4 I picked out my healing drum.  I had a design I wanted painted on it, so I am waiting for it to be finished.
Sharing wonderful gifts from Christmas pasts Mrs Weasley Sweater I made for my best friend, the Christmas Oatmeal Boxes my grandmother made for us and I made one up this year to send to my brother and creating new memories this Christmas.

2011 Highlights – I started the year reaching my goal weight of 135 lbs after decades of struggling, (dropped 173 lbs total).  My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary Sept. 1, 2011.  In Oct. started blogging again (bought Blissful Moon domain).  In Nov. attended the Be Thankful Circle of Trees Retreat (firewalking, arrow breaking, table tipping, and more).

Looking Ahead to 2012 – A whole new year lays ahead.  One of the things I am looking forward to most is my daughter, Angelgirl, turns 16 in May and we are planning a summer vacation to celebrate.  The big thing I want to accomplish is to make some real progress on getting the house more organized and getting rid of clutter and junk.  This has been a challenge for me for decades, but moving into this house has been especially challenging because there is no basement, no attic, and not much storage in the small garage.  Over the 10 years we have been here I have several times started to make a bit of progress, but what ever space gets decluttered seems to fill back up with in a few months and then I feel overwhelmed and unmotivated to do it again because I can’t seem to make any progress.  I plan on approaching the situation with some of the same tactics that worked for me to lose 173 lbs – by setting up guidelines to follow (for example, I can’t buy anything new unless we absolutely need it or I get rid of something and make spot for the item) and doing what needs to be done whether I feel like it or not.  My brother is going to be setting up tables at flea markets for his business venture and is going to take some of my stuff along too – if it sells great, but if after a few months it doesntt I’m going to just get rid of it (donate what I can and put on the curb anything that is left).

What were the highlights for your 2011?   What plans do you have for 2012?

 colorfuleaves 13 Highlights November Roundup

13 Highlights of November.  Last month I celebrated my one month blogaversary and reviewed the best of October.  Now the beginning of another month rolls around and I thought it is a good time to review the best of the previous month and a sneak preview for plans for the upcoming month.

  1. Accomplishments – Survived spammer and bot attacks that almost shut down the blog. The blog survived thanks to the tireless genius of a friend (Saphrym) who worked behind the scenes helping me. Also thanks go out for a suggestion from a friend on Facebook – I installed 2 very useful wordpress plugins – Bad Behavior and WP-Ban.  What a difference – the spam comments have dropped from 40 to 50 a day to 3 or 4.  Bad Behavior blocked 15 attacks in the first 20 minutes and still going strong.
  2. Tweaked the sidebar a bit for better performance (still a work in progress, but striving to make the page easy to load and an enjoyable place to visit).  Discovered Pingdom – test website performance, gives lots of useful information. (I don’t understand it all, but I was able to use some of the information to make positive changes.)
  3. The debut of Cauldron Chat (come sit and chat a spell) – a monthly discussion topic, we can share experiences, information, questions about various topics (and exchange links).  December’s chat topic is Crystals.
  4. November was a very exciting month – I attended the Be Thankful Circle of Trees Retreat and got to share my experience Firewalking
  5. Shared my experience Arrow Breaking (at the Circle of Trees Retreat)
  6. Shared my experience Table Tipping  (at the Circle of Trees Retreat)
  7. A favorite post – House Blessing with Crystals.
  8. Posted my first book review here at Blissful Moon – Chopin and Beyond (my review)  (a very interesting book, autobiography of Byron Janis, a famous pianist and includes his encounters with the paranormal throughout his life) To read more about it, Chopin and Beyond: My Extraordinary Life in Music and the Paranormal 13 Highlights November Roundup (Amazon link)
  9. Looking ahead for month of December and beyond – tomorrow I am going to pick out a healing drum and I will be sure to post photos over the weekend.  I’m looking forward to learning more about drumming and hope to find a drumming circle near me that I can attend regularly.
  10. I am giving two workshops at the Spring Strength and Rebirth Circle of Trees Retreat (April 27-29, 2012) and will be posting more about them and associated tidbits as plans progress (you can read a brief description on their website).  This is a wonderful retreat, if you can attend I highly recommend it – there will be lots of workshops, maypole dancing, drumming and a butterfly release too.
  11. I am expanding my crystal collection and looking forward to sharing photos and information about the various stones (I also have a few big projects in the works but these will take several months to unfold, so keeping them unwraps for now).
  12. There are a few things on my to do list that I didn’t get to, so they will get carried over – one is to figure out how to get my Blissful Moon “favicon” to show up.  In my favorites list for Blissful Moon it just shows the generic “e” favicon – but maybe it shows up for others  *shrugs*  – but I’m clueless how to fix the situation, so this may stay on my to do list for awhile.
  13. Tarot review videos – November was really busy and I didn’t get a chance to make a tarot video.  With the Yule holiday coming up, December will most likely be very busy too so I will mostly likely have to postpone starting the video project until next month.

How was your November – blogging and otherwise?

Bright blessings, Lady Rose

WitchonBroom 21 222x300 Vision of Witch Riding Across the Moon

Question: Hi…my name is Melissa and I have been wanting to ask this for soooo very long. So, maybe you can help me. When I was little, it was Halloween night and my aunt and the rest of my family were getting ready to go to church, I went outside and started jumping on the trampoline. I looked up at the moon like I always did and I saw a witch on her broom in the moon, I just kept on jumping and staring at the moon until my aunt called me, I didnt want to leave because I loved jumping on the trampoline at night and staring at the moon, trying to grab it along with the stars. Til this day I love the moon and stars and every Halloween nite I look at the moon to see if the witch on her broom is there, but she isn’t. I remember that nite so clear and well and remember every detail of that nite. I cross my heart that it was real, so very, very real.…can you please tell me what it meant or means? I thank you… and bless be.

Answer: Thank you, Melissa for sharing your wonderful childhood vision.  In my opinion visions and dreams are real, not in the usual physical world sense of reality, but real in that they create a response (emotionally, mentally, and chemically within the body) and they are also real in the realm of imagination and in the energetic spiritual levels of existence.  The best person to intrepret what it means is you.  I can offer a bit of guidance and suggestions, but the answer is within your heart and spirit.

Children are much more open to allowing visions from the spiritual realm and imagination to be seen with the physical eyes.  Rhythmic motion and chanting are activities that can open one’s mind to visions and inspiration.  So the combination of being a young child and the repetitive jumping and sheer joy of the moment were  all factors that may have contributed to your seeing the witch fly across the moon.

What do witches mean to you?  For me a witch is a healer, a wise one, a priestess of the Moon and Earth, a protector of the earth and all living things.  But what the symbology of a “witch” means will be different for each person.  She may have been the moon’s way of saying hello to you or perhaps a guardian spirit letting you know you are being watched over.  It could be your inner voice showing you a vision of what is within your heart.

Even though you may not see her with your phsyical eyes now, the power of the vision will always be there and you can tap into it’s meaning and energy.  Before going to sleep at night picture her in your mind and ask that her message be revealed to you.  Keep a pen and journal near the bed and write now any dreams or inspirations that may come during the night or in the morning when you wake up.  This may not happen right away, so just give it time – no rush, no worry.  If you feel she is a guardian spirit, you can also ask for her to let you know in other ways that she is present.  Even though you may not see her, you may be able to “feel” or otherwise sense her presense.

I hope that this was helpful for you.  If you have more questions feel free to ask and keep me posted on what you discover about your vision.

Bright Blessings, Lady Rose
